A reusable polypropylene honeycomb pre-filter screen for evaporative coolers, fitted ahead of the cooling pads to intercept dust, seed husks and insect debris before they load the media. It rinses clean and reinstalls rather than being replaced each season.
Evaporative coolers move a lot of air through wet media, and whatever is in that air ends up embedded in the pads. A washable pre-filter screen takes that loading first, keeping the pads cleaner and holding cooling performance through the season.
A pad-and-fan cooler pulls unfiltered outside air. Over a season everything in that air — dust, organic debris, insects — accumulates in the pads, restricting airflow and reducing evaporative efficiency at exactly the point you need the cooling most.
The obvious objection to putting anything upstream of wet media is that most filter materials fail when damp. Polypropylene does not. It absorbs no water, resists rot and corrosion, and can be rinsed while the unit stays in service, which makes it a natural fit for this environment.
