PP Honeycomb Panels for Protective Partitioning in Transit

Partitioning Protects Fragile Loads

Inside a mixed shipment, parts rub, press, and dent each other unless something stands between them. PP honeycomb panels make rigid, light partitions that keep items separated and supported through transit. Why Honeycomb Works

A honeycomb panel is a PP cell core between flat skins, giving high bending stiffness at low weight, about 3.8 kg/m2 at 10 mm. It resists the bowing that lets cardboard dividers collapse onto product. Panels slot into moulded rails and stay put under vibration, unlike loose corrugated inserts. A 12 mm panel holds a 20 kg shelf load across a 500 mm span without deflection.

The closed-cell skin wipes clean and will not shed fibres on finished goods.

Configuring Partitions

Panels cut to grid sizes build 6, 9, or 12 cells per tote for assorted components. For tall items, vertical fins stop lean and contact. Because honeycomb is easy to CNC-rout, a custom cell layout takes days, not tooling months. A glassware distributor using Rulowin honeycomb grids cut in-transit breakage from 4 percent to 0.6 percent with no added weight penalty.

Reusable grids return with the tote and last for years.

Beyond the Box

The same panels line crate interiors, separate stacked sheets, or form a protective lid liner. At end of life the mono-material PP recycles. One sensor maker replaced die-cut cardboard partitions across 30 SKUs with a kit of Rulowin honeycomb panels and removed 5 tonnes of fibre waste a year while improving protection. Partition smartly, and the load protects itself.

For very tall or odd parts, specify vertical fins or a lid liner rather than a deeper box, which saves weight and cube. Because honeycomb cuts cleanly on a CNC, a one-off layout costs little, letting you protect a low-volume fragile item as well as a high-run one.
